"Razzle" on Hot-Timers - These were filled with light spackle and painted with 1 coat of polyurethane - Once up on step you have to cut back the throttle or you will be airborne.. ..check out the video on YouTube ..... Lots of FUN!
This is a 40 size Tower Hobbies "Uproar". These Floats were balsa sheeted w/ply mounting in center using water based contact and then 3 coats of polyurethane varnish. The carbon fiber spreaders work great! Notice the chamfer on the outboard side of the floats, this is to allow high speed turns, and a cool rooster tail!
The "Uproar" w/wheels came in at 77oz. and with the floats it only weighs 84oz. !! That's only 7oz. more!! If You want to use this type of mounting let me know so I can cut the spreader holes in the right spot...
The front strut is 5/32" wire that goes thru the nose wheel hole in the Great Planes motor mount held in place by wheel collars making it adjustable up & down. The bottom is brass tubing soldered in a tee (add gussets) and slid over the carbon fiber tube. You can change back to wheels in 5 min. (OK Dave, 6 min.) Profile planes can attach the top to one of the engine bolts using a solderless electrical terminal. (soldered of course)
Mount tail float to rudder or to the bottom on the fuse.
(above: the weight was added before we put this plane on floats)
Profile's can use this detail and attach it to the fuse..
